To Kombucha or Not to Kombucha

So this is going to be a divisive topic, but I just cannot decide how I feel about kombucha.

When it started to become a big deal a few years ago, I gave it a try. I tend to have bouts of stomach issues, which leads me to try a myriad of remedies to assist my stomach and gut health. This has led me to try apple cider vinegar water, apple cider vinegar shots, teas, and kombucha. Heads up... most of the time these remedies for gut health are NOT great options when you are currently struggling with stomach issues and can even exacerbate them. I've learned this first hand...

The taste of kombucha is definitely unique and can vary by the flavor, brand, and whether it is bottled or fresh. While doing some marketing for the company I work for, we stopped at a local yoga spot in Dripping Springs called Serasana. They boast a wide array of health opportunities and aides. One of the best things that I experienced with them, beyond the extremely friendly staff, was a local on-tap peach kombucha. It was PHENOMENAL. But then enter stomach issues.

Anyway. I had been doing some reading and discovered that they are now creating kombucha that includes alcohol as a healthier alternative to mixed drinks and it sparked an interest to try it again. So, while I was doing a quick run to Trader Joe's to pick up necessities for the never-ending quarantine 2020, I came across Health-Ade's Tropical Punch kombucha.

Today I popped the top and gave her a swig and was delightfully surprised by how much smoother this was than my previous experiences. It did have a fruity and tea-like flavor (it contains both black and green tea) and you could definitely taste the fresh-pressed juices that make up the tropical punch flavor (pineapple, mango, and orange).

It was quite refreshing and has definitely rekindled the endless dance that kombucha and I have. I'd say we are like siblings. We like each other, but when we don't it can be pretty bad.

Either way, I am excited to try some of their other flavors and seek out one of the newest alcohol-infused versions.

What are your thoughts on kombucha? Any suggestions?
