I Tried Out Factor Meals

I would say that I am a wannabe foodie. I am wowed and amazed by what people are able to do with a simple set of ingredients and how those ingredients can intermingle and create an epic flavor.

With that said, I am also quite lazy and impatient. If something seems to be going wrong when I've put on the apron, I try to trudge through it and make the best with what I've got... which is not always a lot. I am also easily convinced to make something quick or eat out, as a long day of working does not a peppy chef make.

Factor_ is a company that prides itself on utilizing the best ingredients and only requiring a quick few minutes in the microwave or oven. As with many meal-kits, Factor_ boasts new recipes weekly and typically have anywhere from 15-20 recipes to choose from. They have multiple plans including a 4, 8, or 12 meals a week offering.

Another thing that sets this company apart is that they offer a complimentary 20-minute nutritional consultation to new and potential customers. That's right. They are willing to offer you a 20-minute session with a licensed nutritionist for FREE even if you don't end up purchasing. (I will share my experience with you in an upcoming blog!) But, after trying the meals, I know that you will!

They were generous enough to send me a few of their meals to try and I want to share my experience with you!

  1. Chicken Marsala & Mashed Cauliflower - My first chance to test out the meals was on a Sunday evening after returning from a solo trip to Dallas to be with family! Walter is currently partaking in intermittent fasting, which means he has to eat a bit earlier than we typically would, meaning that anything after 7 is a fend for yourself moment. The meals arrived to me on Friday and I mistakenly threw them into the freezer. I think that I could have made worse decisions, but it did throw off the cooking instructions on my initial meal. Only requiring 5 minutes in the oven when refrigerated, frozen is a whole different story. 45 minutes later I, finally, had a warm and delicious meal! It looked pretty good and I was excited to test it out. The chicken had an odd texture but I would put the majority of the blame on myself, as I was cooking the meal from frozen. What I will say is the mashed cauliflower was one of the best tasting mashed ANYTHING that I've had in my life. It was so buttery and cheesy and epic. I could have eaten a gallon of it easily and knowing that it wasn't heavy in calories was quite satisfying.

  2. Turkey Ragu Butternut Lasagna - I am always one to try a healthy alternative to a classic and this variation did not disappoint. This recipe combined scrumptious pieces of butternut squashed, meshed with a red ragu sauce and ground turkey. I explained this meal to a friend and they seemed a bit concerned when I mentioned the butternut squash, but you would be shocked how elegantly the flavor melded with the red sauce. It was not lacking in flavor and I would definitely choose this again, given the opportunity! The broccoli was not my favorite, but it rarely ever is.

  3. Red Chile Enchilada Chicken - My third (and final) meal was the Factor_ take on a chicken enchilada. This combined a chicken breast with enchilada sauce and riced cauliflower. I honestly didn't miss any form of tortilla or rice, as the cauliflower gave the texture and it had such a great flavor. The sauteed vegetables were also GREAT and retained a phenomenal flavor and texture. Another hit!

  4. Italian Sausage & Peppers - Due to being out of town, freezing and thawing the meal on a Monday, and being conscious of the enjoy by date, I opted to toss out the last meal. I am not always the best with utilizing meal kits or prepped meal deliveries, but try my hardest to be aware of the expiration dates of meals. I wish I could have tried this and am sure that it was great!

I don't want to leave you guys empty-handed after I described how great and EASY these meals were, so I've got a special deal for you. Visit Factor75.com and use the code TAYLOR40 to receive $40 off your first order of meals!
